Workforce

DEVELOPMENT

In 2021, Wilmington Alliance became a member partner of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions. As one of 35 regional collaboratives, we are part of a network that brings together local and regional partners to help workers access good jobs, businesses find the talent they need, and communities generate prosperity for all. Wilmington Alliance works to address the challenges with the legal, hiring, and retention practices, while working to find solutions at the state and national levels.

Through a pilot employment pipeline, in partnership with ChristianaCare, dedicated positions are available for residents, including those on probation and parole. Working with community organizations, we identify program recipients that are eligible to apply. Once referred, individuals are shepherded through the interview and hiring process by the Wilmington Alliance Employer Navigator. The new hires are supported for the first 12 months of their employment with ChristianaCare. The Navigator acts as a liaison between the employer, the employees, and the community organizations, facilitating access to the wrap-around services including transportation assistance, childcare, housing support, and personal care. In 2025, we will replicate this model into another high growth industry in Delaware, addressing the employer demand for workers and the lack of access to quality jobs.

Wilmington Alliance is proud of our workforce partnerships

We have committed $262,090 of multi-year funding support to our workforce partners via stipends for participants and free access to North Star Digital Literacy to increase capacity and impact.

We recently partnered with Friendship House on a Fines and Fees Fund that provides financial assistance for lifting capias, covering new state IDs, new State Driver Licenses and/or Delaware Birth Certificates or other costs that impede individuals’ movement through the expungement or pardon process.
